I have a 1972 Chevy RV with the G30 van-type body, SBC 350 engine, Turbo 350 transmission, with 16" dually rims on the rear axle. These got banged up on one side climbing out of Death Valley, and I want to replace them. The current rims are the old "lock rim" style or split rims. I cannot find replacement rims for these and was even told that 16" dually rims were not able to be fabricated(!?!). What's more, when I found 16" dually rims at a wrecking yard with the right Chevy 8 - 6.5" lug pattern, they do not fit over the inordinately large wheel drums. I am beginning to think I will have to replace the whole rear axle. Any insight would be welcome.

Do a google search for Six Robblees Inc. They list some 16" and 17" dually wheels.

This is very interesting.

I am of the opinion that you aren't going to be able to find any tire store work on those rims.

And, if I were you, take this free advice, which is worth what you paid for it and get rid of those things

Welcome to Chevy talk from West Michigan!

Good luck on getting your wheels that you need.

Have you considered posting a picture of the rims you need?

Hello I have 3 70-72 C30's as well as a 74 G30 all are duallys. Some with split/lock rims & some with solid rims. As some one previously mentioned the split rims can be dangerous during tire replacement if not handled correctly. I am not understanding your problem of not fitting over the hubs, unless the center holes are not large enough. If you can provide some measurements I might be able to help.
