I've observed in person, and seen even more on this forum, the issue of limited clearance between the driver side front tire and the lower fender extension on a 65. I've not seen anyone report the same problem on the passenger side.

I'd like to chase this to root cause(s) and give this community a means of diagnosing and possibly fixing the problem.

As a way of opening the conversation, some possible causes come to mind. Such as:
- design/manufacturing related?
-- inherent in fundamental design, just more pronounced in some cars than others?
-- perhaps different frame suppliers or assembly plants?
- frame fatigue?
- incorrect components (for instance upper passenger control arm on drivers side)?
- faulty reassembly following rebuild?
- improper frame drop following frame-off restoration, i.e. body not square on frame?

I didn't have this problem when I first bought my car, but had it surface when I went through a frame off with a full, original parts front end rebuild. I'm using the same 15" Rallys so that didn't change either. I'm getting ready to shim the back of the upper control arm to gain some caster.

Please keep bad bushing/worn component fixes as a mention but less meaningful for those of us who have done a full rebuild.

Can we work towards a procedure/checklist for those that will certainly run in to this in the future?
