Greetings:
Question please? What are the differences between a SBC Street Rod Engine and a SBC Dirt Track Engine? Can either engine be use for both applications with success or are we talking two very different animals here. Was topic of conversation at last nights cruise in with no good answer. Appreciate your comments.

In the past Ive built lots of both types of SBC engines,in the past,
you could do lots of things that are no longer permitted,
the class you enter determines your options
lower entry classes limit options
current rules limit custom engine use at most tracks.
in most cases a factory sealed engine is used to mandate,
use of almost identical engines.
dirt track engines are generally designed to operate in the 4500rpm-7000rpm power band
these classes are designed to build drivers skills and prevent and endless and bottomless money pit competition, where the guy with the deepest financial pockets has a huge advantage

with a street rod your mechanical skill and ideally your bottomless bank account leave you free to innovate

IF YOU CAN,T SMOKE THE TIRES AT WILL,FROM A 60 MPH ROLLING START YOUR ENGINE NEEDS MORE WORK!!"!
IF YOU CAN , YOU NEED BETTER TIRES AND YOUR SUSPENSION NEEDS MORE WORK!!
