I've been thinking about this for a while so i'm trying to get as much information as I can before I jump into it.
I have a 350cid in ( was already in the car when I ot it) and I would like to go to a 348 for the correct year motor. would it be a bolt-in conversion or would there need to be some modifications done. the 348 was available in 1960 but I don't know if different mounts were used and if the powerglide was the same.
also, would anyone have a recommendation as to where I might get a rebuilt engine. I have found one locally but it needs a rebuild and i'm thinking I may have a hard time getting some parts for the rebuild.

I am in the process of doing the same thing. My trans is a th350 and it bolted right up to the 348 using my old 283 flywheel. Its an easy swap but quite expensive. I had to buy all new pulleys and brackets for the gen and ps; they are all available from Show Cars. You will also need different exhaust manifolds and distributor and possibly a larger radiator.Along with finding an engine and rebuilding it myself I have about 5k into it. Good luck!

A 348 will bolt up to the powerglide and the motor mounts are the same. A shorter fan shroud is needed and the other things pointed out above.
Show-Cars has a lot of the correct brackets and pulleys and a reproduction fan shroud, plus the motor rebuild parts. If you do have one re rebuilt , best to find a rebuilder with experience. Check out 348-409 for detailed advice on cams, blocks, and heads , and you may find a motor there. A truck block is cheaper to buy and find and can be built to 350+ HP with very streetable parts.

I put a 409 and a 4 speed in my 59 for a while, it was a fairly easy project.

If you buy a rebuilt 348, like anything rebuilt , you have to be careful it was done right.
