So I recently got a 1978 Chevy c20 pickup L25 inline 6. And somebody has mess with all the wiring.the key switch was bad I guess and somebody decided instead of buying a new one they would just run a push button starter from the battery and the solenoid bypassing the rest of the wiring system.I was wondering if anybody had the original wiring diagrams or could get me pictures of theirs or somebody else's wiring so I could see which wire coming from the steering column I need to follow to figure out where to splice in a wire to go to the starter solenoid.

Welcome to Chevy Talk!
Someone probably had trouble with the ignition mechanism under the column and decided to by-pass it.
If you can find a Hayne's manual for your year truck,it will have the wiring diagrams.
Should be able to find one on-line.
And,very useful for the whole truck!

"You gonna leave it like that?

Welcome to the site.
Go here for wiring diagrams. All years are available.

Check the neutral safety switch too. It's located under the dash on the steering column. If it's out out of adjustment, it won't crank.

Okay thank you. I've replaced the key switch already but now I need to figure out where I need to wire the starter up again because they have totally taken those wires out.
