Trying to figure how the battery cable goes to the solenoid, the assembly manual shows a diagram but it's kinda confusing. Does the cable go between the fuel pump and engine mount, do the clips bolt on to the oil pan?

The cable to the starter solenoid is attached to the inner fender under the plastic push in clips with 2 mounting pins per clip, then over the frame to the starter solenoid.
There are about 5 or 6 sets of pre drilled holes in the inner fender to hold the cable using the plastic push in clips.

The cable to the starter from the battery needs to be about 53 inches long as I recall.

For the 1964 model year, routing of the cable starts at the battery, then goes down to a clip on the frame across from the fuel pump.
Next it goes between the fuel pump and motor mount to clips that are attached using the oil pan bolts as you described. The clips are available for the pan rail attachment point.
The frame rail clip might be repopped, I just do not know for sure. The cable is approximately 53 inches long. The assembly manual has really poor drawings on some items. Good luck, Jon
