1987 GMC vandura g2500 front door locks

There is a "L" shaped arm with a half moon eye hole in middle. That attaches to the back of the door lock cylinder and is held in place with a special clip.

what is that arm called? and what is that special clip called that holds the arm on new locks do not come with that special clip. I am trying to locate a replacement that can not be acquired from the junk yard, They don't want you tearing their doors open, they want to sell the door whole, lock and all.

Its a part that wears out regularly in the colder states the hole in the middle gets stretched out where it wraps the post on the back of the cylinder.

When its worn enough it won't unlock the door.

every now and then when I try to unlock the door it feels like there is nothing attached to the cylinder post on the back.

I have to pound the lock a couple of times to get it to unlock when turning the key.

So there is something partially broke but not sure exactly where but I know when the door freezes and is hard to unlock,, it can stretch the hole on that arm. Or even break off a portion of the arm.

when asking Questions its related to van I own: 1987 GMC 3/4 ton G2500 vandura, V6, No AC, standard length. 3speed trans(no overdrive).

Google "door rod clip" or "door lock rod clip" . You can find them a Home Depot too. Doorman makes those clips.

If you have access to a gm parts manual, check groups 10.474 to 10.506 for the part. You might be able to order new parts through the parts department. I know the parts that you make reference to, however, they can be different for different model trucks and years.

Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.
