I have a 1948 Chevrolet aerosedan, I eliminated the vacuum assist shifting assembly, installed a champs conversion kit, my transmission shifts fine. its a little hard going from 1st to 2nd all other gears shift fine, was wondering if a longer shift arm would make it shift smoother/easier. my current arm measures 8inches was wondering if the 48 column shifter arm for the thriftmaster panel or truck is longer, any help or advice would be appreciated.

That would not effect the ease of shift, other than the law of leverage.

Thanks!

Broo, leverage is exactly correct.so do you have a longer shifting arm that will work. I just had rotator cuff surgery and it's really hard to shift at this time, so any suggestions would really help. Thanks

If its on the tree, you could extend your original by cut and weld to blend the longer arm
Im assuming thats where it is.
I saw the result of another guys 47, but your reach would externd yourt shoulder more, not less. I also has rotator cuff surgeries (both)
If its a floor shifter: a 90s Silverado arm is what I used and welded it on.

Thanks!
