Hi all,
I have a short block gen 1 350 that I am getting ready to put together for my 67 El Camino. I had big plans, but now I'm starting to think maybe I want as little modification as possible. If I use Vortec heads using the stock cam, does that present any problems? I'm feeling like I don't want to deal with shortening valve stems or valve guides, or using different springs or whatever. I have to get heads anyway, so using Vortecs with a Vortec carb intake seems like a no brainer. Any thoughts? I'm not completely ruling out a mild cam, and headers of course, but I'm feeling kind of lazy these days and just looking forward to getting it fired up.
Scott

aftermarket vortec heads like these, linked allow a .520 valve lift and are no problem with a mild performance cam , something like a crane 114132 wakes up a mild 350 noticeably and it works with all the stock converters gears fuel pumps etc
