Hi guys,
M y trusty "old hog" is in desperate need of a left (driver side) lower control arm - preferably an assembly including ball joint. This van has 230 k miles on it, runs strong, and is definitely worth keeping it alive. However, on my last business trip up to OH from FL I notice that the balljoint almost fell out of its seat. So I had a slightly oversized balljoint welded in place and took on the 1.100 miles back home. No alignment was performed and it was a "vibrating" ride - to say the least.
I know that those control arms are no longer manufactured but maybe somebody here has a source or even a control arm? Any help is greatly appreciated. This is my daily driver and I need it back in shape... Thanks in advance for any help or hint!

Welcome to CT. Pretty sure an arm from a C20 pick up would be the same. Try Rock auto, see if there are any crossovers.

Nope, doesn't fit. The C20 is a 3/4ton truck; the van is a 1/2 tonner. Also, the arm for the C20 has a different geometry than that for the G20.

These are available new in several brands, including bushings and ball joint, i.e. "loaded"

Check RockAuto as they list them specific to your application. They are also the same part as the "squarebody" 2WD R10 trucks 1973-1987 series...

Thanks, that was a hit! Now order it and have it shipped. The closest find is about 600 miles away.

Just out of curiosity: Does anybody know why those parts are no longer made? The vans were built strong and tough, and you - with a bit of basic maintenance - would have a hard time to shred a 350 engine, so a van like this should run for a long, long time. Admitted, 26 years is a long time but I know vanners with even older models and they run just fine...

Thanks again for all the help and hints!

Hmmm... I looked up "R10 Pickup 1987" on RockAuto and it shows only UPPER control arms. I needed a LOWER arm....

Found one used and it'll be here tomorrow.

Ugh! You are 100% right. I thought you were looking for uppers, which is what I get for reading/posting from my phone during a lull at work. Tiny screen and my mistake.

If you call a few of those hits on car-part I bet you'll find someone that will ship.
