I am Larry. My 58 is doing quite well as the original 283/230 hp, single 4 barrel, power glide, stock rear end hasn't been driven over 3000 rpm. Plain Jane but it can be exercised occasionally when I can squeeze my old joints into the space needed to sit in the seat. There are still a few of us lame ducks out here.

Hi Larry. A few years back we did the San Antonio, Austin. Luckenbock, New Branfels etc loop. Great time.
I have learned that leaving cars sit is just not a good thing so glad to see you drive it.
Any other Vettes in your area? Coffee get togethers on Sat. am?

We have a 57 and a 61. The 57 has a 57 265 block w/64 heads, 2x4 carbs, 4 spd. Don't know the history. It's a driver, but not often. Just found some 997 heads to go with an un-found correct block. The 61 is our cross country car. Crate 350, tremic 5 spd, A/C, both tops, aftermarket radio. We've driven it to the NCM from CA in 09, and Ontario, Canada in '11. We were planning on taking it on the caravan again in '14, but had leaking wheel brg. We are planning on taking it again in Aug. on the caravan to Bowling Green again. Great car.

Hey Ken. The 61 sounds like a good set up for long trips.
I drove the 62 to the Grand Opening in 94 and the 93 in 99. If they show the first time video watch for a yellow 62. Shows up several times but my favorite is a head on shot showing the oil cooler in the grill opening.
Pretty sure will not be going this year. Are you going to the Rose Bowl get together the night b4 the official leaving day?

Mel,
I haven't been ignoring you...just down with the flu recently. We do not attend any club meetings or events with the 58 but do drive it around New Braunfels occasionally. The lack of power steering makes it diffucult to maneuver corners, etc. so driving is quite an upper-body workout.

Well if you think steering now is a bugger don't follow my led. Was running Riverside road course and added the quick steering adapter. Now if parked in a tight space I worry about bending the steering wheel.
Hard to look like a big shot when you are almost standing in the seat to get a 1/4 turn out of the steering wheel. Give me another ten minutes guys and I will have her out of the space. Mel

Well Paul if you get a C1 and go on trips I can give you tips on where to put the gallon of water for the radiator and where to put the dirty underwear. Mel

I logged a considerable number of hours in my '61 which went over to the dark side in my divorce....

Golf clubs, canvas travel bags, tool kit, water and oil...occasional leg cramps!

Some newbees say the C1s ride like a pick up but I say only if you put a lot of time and money into the Corvette!!!
Got my 62 in 63 and now have over 300,000 miles so my rear end knows the car real well. Does it have the ride etc. of a new car? No but it has a history, image, personality and thousands of memories.
Time for you to get another one!!
