Fifteen years ago I converted over to disc brakes on the front of my '56. I decided to pull the rotors, inspect the bearings, etc. In doing so I pushed the wheel seals out and tried to find new ones. The paperwork I have said to get part # 8705-S. This is for a 70-72 Monte Carlo. This will fit the rotor but will not fit up onto my stock spindle. I even took a razor and shaved off the innermost seal. It had two lips. Still no way to get this to push onto the seal surface of the spindle. The seal that came with the kit only has one lip and the metal is slightly larger. It is Sunday and I can't call the company I bought the kit from and am just a little impatient. Surely I am not the only one that has had this problem. I can't find anything on the internet either.

I think you need a 61-68 Belair seal. Part # 7934S with a inside shaft size of 1.875 and OD of 2.4". Link to seal deminsions.

The 8705-S has a shaft size of 1.734".

Thank you very much! Out of 3 big name part suppliers, no one had any in stock. After viewing the dimensions of both seals I believe you are right. So I have two on order. Thanks again to you and ChevyTalk.

X2 on the info that Acardon gave you...The seals can be a bit pricey in some auto parts stores, so shop around.
