Hopefully, it was a car that was severely wrecked in the rear to start with. There's always someone out there with a "really good idea". I'm not ever going to be one of them. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

That has been around a long time. I saw it in person at the Carlisle, PA swap meet once. Not something I would do, even if it was a 4 door, but it is actually very well done.

About 40 + yrs ago, I saw in HotRod mag, someone turned a '55 wagon or Nomad into a El camino. Looked really sharp. One of a kind.

Late yr model (Dec. 51 BelAir/ 52 trim), with a basically stock 67 Camaro SS350/295hp Turbo Fire Edelbrock 1405, Saginaw 4spd/355 geared 55/6 Chevy rear.2,1st place, and 1 top five award trophies so far

There have been several wagons and Nomads turned into El Caminos. Ranging from great looking to absolutely terrible looking. One of the best I’ve seen was a ‘55 Nomad featured in Super Chevy. The guy didn’t like the look of the rear with the severe slope of the Nomad gate so he grafted a wagon gate and inner quarter sections in and hand made the bed moldings. He made it look completely stock as if the factory built it, right down to full wheel covers.

I don't believe that this is something that is home brew, but one of many that was produced in the early 1960's out of mostly Cadillac Commercial Chassis cars (i.e. Hearses and ambulances). Cadillac Camper Conversion Pictures From what I remember, there were a few different companies that were making these conversions for resale. Here is a Packard that was featured in Hemmings a while back................ and a 1948 Cadillac camper that started life as a 1948 Meteor Cadillac hearse.

Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.
