I'm doing a little research and wonder if you could help me out.

What do you guys consider the hardest parts to get for your cars?

If you could "make" a part what would you make?

Its really shocking how much is out there for the old k series. Last night I found the latch for the center console on rock auto for $12! but there is one thing that while I was able to find, took years and bought it used. A simple G80 Diff locker repair kit that includes the clutch, paw and ring gear. I ended up finding a supplier on ebay for $80 but like I said parts are used. Haven't found a new supplier.

You can not buy cross members. We don't have junkyards in my area like a lot of you do. A kind chevytalk member went to a junkyard and got 2 for me and shipped them to me.

Scram.

I'm talking 3d printing and told they can use a lot of material from plastic to metal. Just trying to get my head around this as the opportunity is pretty exciting for the restoration business.

Aaah, 3d printed parts.

The little plastic key with the nib that always breaks in the turn signal canceler on 98 up k1500. I ended up making one out of key stock though. The plastic nib always breaks off and you have to buy an entire turn signal assembly. A decade ago I gave up and made a replacement out of metal. Would be easy to make on a 3d printer. my metal one always worried me that it would wear out the cam on the steering.

The interior door handle assembly cover for my '93. I can't seem to find a good one for the right side.
