I HAVE A 82 C10 SILVERADO WITH A 305h engine. It has a vacuum advance. My eci module is a 5 pin mod but the extra input on the pickup side is not used. The unused input is labeled knock sensor on info I have found. Wondering if this is the correct mod for this engine. Any input would be appreciated.

Welcome to AF. Doesn't sound like the right one, sounds one for an ecu controlled engine. Check it out on Rockauto.

I had looked there. They show a four and a five pin for the H engine. Been running for years with the five pin, Just didn't know if it should have the four. Noticed the unused pin when rebuilding the distrib.

Welcome to the site. Early ‘80s had ESC modules. I removed the module on my 83. Read the sticky at top of this forum. It explains how to remove electronic spark control. Basically it would change timing if spark knocking was detected.

Don't believe I have a ESC mod if I did wouldn't there be a lead or two from it? I only have two wires from the pick up going to the 3 pin side and wires from the cap to the two pin side. I have a vacuum advance on the dist. thanks for the help. there are only three wires to the cap batt, ground , and tach on mine

Thank you, Yes it is . Had a Rochester quadrajet but I replaced it with a Holly. still trying to figure out if it should have a 4 pin instead of the 5 pin which was in it.

Sounds like you don't have the other parts to go with the 5-pin module for esc so it wouldn't matter 4 or 5 pin module then.

Unless of course youre looking for those parts to restore the esc function, which I ASSume not since you've put a Holley on it.

Do you have wiring diagrams? Wiring diagrams are available for all models.

I inherited my 82 Silverado almost 20 years ago. It was a carburetor 305 with ESC. Course the 305 was bad (spun main bearings), and I replaced it with a 327 I had. Out came ALL the ESC, and SMOG equipment. I did reuse the 5 pin HEI distributor, and just replaced the 5 pin with a 4 pin. All the engine has now is a PCV control setup now, and the 327 was replaced with a Target Master 350 10 years ago, that dropped #8 exhaust valve right after the warranty ran out. Truck has a stroker 305 in it now; 334 CID due to a .030 overbore, cut down 400 crank, 400 rods, and a forged 305 piston. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
