Hope I have this in the correct thread...

Hi guys!!
I am working on a friends 2001 Express (it is his work truck). He needs a thermostat. This should have been an easy fix (30min?)
However, once I got in there, several issues reared its ugly head

Excessive oil every where, not related but a concern
Water puddles through various places - and t-stat housing (even saw some on the alternator)

I called him about these issues and told him he should take it to a shop, otherwise he might be wasting his time with his heat issue (temp wont move off cold, so recommended to start simple with a t-stat)
He declined and said just do the t-stat

One question I have (off topic) is that nut farthest from the front easier to access from the dog house? Not easy to get from the front.

Regardless, here is my concern:
I decided not to do the t-stat, I felt I would be opening a can of worms with his other issues glaring at me. so re attached the air housing and close everything up.

Since it is freezing I have been starting the van once a day til he returns. However THIS TIME it only starts then shuts off, You can repeat, but the symptom is like he's out of gas, which he is not.

Is there a wire I might have bumped, pulled or otherwise disconnected that would cause this. This is what I think is going on.

Keep in mind I am currently in the mid-west deep freeze, so I can only stand short bouts (he put new tires on his van, so it doesn't fit in my garage anymore
