Hello Everyone,

I am trying to replace the lights on my instrument cluster and would like to know how I can remove it so I can actually get to the bulbs. I removed the screws and can pull the cluster out about an inch but it feels like I am either going to break it or pull apart some wires if I keep pulling. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome!
The little light sockets are twist out. You should be able to reach up behind the dash and replace the bulbs without removing the instrument cluster.
If you still want to remove the instrument cluster, there is a large plug that plugs into the printed circuit-board, unscrew the speedometer cable and there with probably be a separate ground wire. Good luck!

It's most likely the speedometer cable holding it in. There is quite a bit of slack on the harness wiring plug. You may have to unscrew the speedo cable from the transmission and pull it up into the engine compartment a little and push a few inches through the firewall.

^^^That's what I was thinking^^^. I've got rather large hands, and limited ability to contort myself in any position to get up under the dash, due to multiple spinal fusion surgeries, and I just went through this with my 82 Silverado. I guess the factory thinks we're all little Asian, gymnastic/contortionist guys. I remember when I could still do all of this; don't get old, and take care of your spine. Butch. I am the same age as you and luckily can still do most everything restoring a project car. I still work 2 days a week even though I've been retired for 11 years from my main job. I refuse to get old!!

Here is a photo of the inside of the cluster and you can see the twist in lights for the cluster.
