I messed with my head lights today as well trying to get the best aim out of them as I could. Well I have been looking for over a year now for a old set of the head light aimers to aim them. I found a set just now on E bay complete with owners manual for $35.00 + $20 shipping.
Vintage Lev-L-Lite Model B4 Headlight Aimers
I can aim all my vintage vehicles now with persis alignment!
Plus I'll have a cool piece of automative equipment for the shop.

I've been doing some research on these while I wait for them to get here. I found the instruction manual on line and down loaded it also found a good video of doing this also very good job by the guy. Can't wait to get them and get all the lights adjusted for better night vision!

Clean the mirrors when they arrive, and use a solution of water with some dishwashing liquid on the headlights before putting the suction cups on the headlights. I found that if you didn't do this, that they might hold for a short time, and when you least expect it, they would loose there grip, and fall off the car. After the first time this happened, and the adjuster was damaged by the fall, when I found a replacement, this treatment of the headlamp became standard procedure. The rubber suction cups get stiff with age.

Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.

I'd also put some foam padding under the headlamps in case it falls anyways...
