I found the original door lock pulls for my ’60 which are black and when I started to clean one the black began to come off and reveal the car body color, turquoise.(they look bluish in the pictures) After I got it as clean as I could, I could see that the first third from the small end was a different shade probably because that part was never exposed to the sun indicating that the other two thirds was exposed. They have been off the car since mid-70’s and I can’t understand why they just turned black, whatever it was, just laying around in a box for 40+ years. Did the pulls come in the color of the car? Lamar

Yes they came in many molded plastic colors. You can clean them with acetone and an old tooth brush and paint them with plastic paint or just use a base coat finish. Here's some originals.

Thanks Jens, for the acetone tip, they cleaned up pretty good and I will just use them the way they are. The picture still shows it bluish. Lamar
