I have a 02 Silverado short bed, short cab, had a reman installed 36K miles ago. Parked the truck, a few minutes later restarted only to see no oil pressure on the gage accompanied by a check oil pressure light. Had the trucked towed to the dealer that installed the engine and am told the oil pressure sensor is fine and after closer inspection found metal shavings in the pan. The engine is under warranty and they are planning on fixing it, up until the other day the engine ran flawless and did not use a drop of oil. Thoughts ?
Thanks in advance...

Hmm, until it's apart and inspected, any thing else is a guess.

Just got the word on my engine, cam, lifters and oil pump, pump failed... I asked about the main and rod bearings and was told everything was fine, I am not a novice as I build airplane engines, does this seem correct or am I being a worry wart....

It's possible, if it wasn't run long. I would be concerned that metal shavings are all through the motor, though.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, criticize it on the internet.

If its still possible, I would ask to inspect the crank and bearings and the cam bearings. You can see any damage with the naked eye, ( scratches, etc.). If its reassembled, then you have to go with their report.

I agree. I would be leary of that.
Something caused the failure and whatever caused it may reoccur.
Best of luck to you
