Greetings,

I've installed a "rebuilt" generator but my GEN light stays on regardless of engine speed. I'm hoping this is something simple as a rebuilt generator isn't inexpensive and I'm past the warrantee return date; life gets in the way of the hobby sometimes. Can you give me some tips on how to test the generator.

Also, can someone explain polarizing the generator and when it's done? I didn't do this when I installed the generator but I think I did it today..... short wire & spark between Bat & Arm terminals on the regulator. I don't like sparking electrical stuff! No change on the GEN light.

Many thanks,
Tom

Tom

1. The cutout relay is not closing. Take the cover off your regulator and see if that is/is not happing. 2. You have dirty contacts that need cleaning. Use something like a business card. No files or sandpaper. 3. You got a bad connection somewhere in your charging circuit.
Tell us what your voltmeter reads.
