a friend of mine has a pair of alum. front hubs for a '56. years ago, I remember NHRA banned them. I think the early ones were totally unsafe. however these look to be billet. might be nice on my drag race car.

thoughts?
thanks Rod in AZ

Can't help you out there. But, I bought a pair of hubs from CPP to convert to from roller bearing to sleeve bearing, and they are aluminum; completely machined and do not appear cast. I later bought a front disc brake conversion, so have no use for these aluminum hubs, still new and unused. Yours for cheap, if you can use them. Just do the P.M. thing. There's no problem with "billet" aluminum hubs. There are several on the market. I have some from ECI and they are beautifully machined parts, shame you can't see them.

A cast aluminum hub of the correct alloy and heat treat would be fine too. I guess an idiot could build a cast hub of the wrong alloy, not heat treat it, etc.

I have never heard of such a part like that being banned because of the design or safety, but I suppose it could have happened. The other reason they would not allow the part would be that in certain classes stock parts would be required, and the aluminum hubs certainly are not.
