the speedometer/odometer/turn signal/high beam display on my 95 impala does not work intermittently. when it works, I can dim it just like it should. when it does not work,the gauge lights are still on and dimmeable.
any ideas would be appreciated.

This is an old post, but...

The contacts between the "LCD"part and the rest of the cluster get dirty/corroded. A lot of times, if you pull the cluster out, you can undo the screws which hold that part on, you can see that there are spring contacts on the back of it, and little solder lumps on the display circuit board. You can rub on them with an eraser, a small nylon wheel on a Dremel (not a wire wheel; that'll wear away the solder lumps pretty fast), or electrical contact cleaner. There are all sorts of DIY cleanup methods which are possible.

In any event, a lot of times you can clean those contacts up on both sides and fix that flickering issue. If not, look up how to swap an "analog" F-body gauge cluster in. It just plugs in, but you have to trim a little plastic. Or get the analog cluster from a '96 - same plug-in swap, as I recall.
