I bought a 57 Chevy BelAir with an LT1 that came from a mid-90's Impala. How can I find out specifically what year model the LT1 is?

There should be a laser dot marking of the VIN # (or partial) of the donor car on the block. I think it's near the oil filter. There is a digit in the VIN that matches the last digit of the model year.

Additionally there are ways to tell if an LT1 came from a Camaro/Firebird, a Corvette, or an Impala/Roadmaster. Also the 92-93 engines are speed density (no MAF), and the 96-97 engines have some additional sensors for OBD2 requirements.

Just to add, my brother has a '94 Cadillac version waiting to put into the '57 four-door wagon he's restoring, so there's another potential donor source.
