I am looking for a forum, where Old Guys that do not have buckets full of cash, work on their own cars, just for the love of it.

Chrome was so bad on my 52 grille, that I painted it with Duplicolor rattle can Chrome, went to Cleora, OK. picking parts and found a not bad 51 grille. Thinking about using it. What would you do?

Wow, they look very close in the photo, not sure which I would use. Suggest leave as is and see how paint job holds up, then replace if necessary.

I'm with one4dad. The painted grill looks pretty good from the pics so I'd see how the paint held up before switching.

But I'd definitely keep that grill. Hard to get decent ones these days!

Hard to tell the difference in the photos. I've used rattle can chrome on small parts under the hood that aren't exposed to the sun, bugs, and washing, seems to hold up well to engine heat.

My neighbor is putting a V8 in his 85- 1/2 ton, and asked me-if I knew anyone that would give him a Hundred bucks for the 4.3, it's got 48546 miles on it. I decided to bring it home.

Doing some needed front end repairs, and think 235 is sitting a little deep in its nest. Going to shim motor mounts, to get oil pan up off big bolt in center link. Little bolts are both loose, and need resized, one king pin is all wonky, and am going to put other sector and shaft in. Figure, if this front end, was good enough for Corvette, to run 24 hours at Le Mans, then it ought to be good enough to cruise Ozark back roads--------still have not degreased front end.

Finally put new glass, and vent window rubber, in driver door. Now only three more doors to go. Window fuzzies for four doors cost more than eight pieces of glass.

Have finally learned, how to do this....work on one door at a time...then go back and do the first door again.
You look at Four different suppliers --Vent Window Rubbers, Vent Window Rivets, Rivet setting tool, Window Run Channels, and Glass, then you find a 9/64" bit because the new Rivets will not fit the old hole. And bottom sash channel is 70 years old, and you have to glue the glass to it.
