They announced today he will drive the #1 car for Ganassi next year. McMurray was offered a car for the Daytona 500 and a "leadership" position at CGR. No mention yet, that I've seen, of who will drive the 41 for SHR or if they will field that car next year. Matt Kenseth maybe?

There was some talk of Sanchez driving the 41.

I think Kenseth has said he has no offers, and that we won't race full time in 2019. I think if Kenseth races again he'll be a fill in for an injury, or a "bail it out" guy like this year.

Suarez said last week he'll be in a competitive Cup ride. Carlos Slim (Suarez money guy) was at the race in Miami, probably lining up the next to last details for Suarez to be in the 41. Unless something very unexpected comes up, Suarez is the only Cup driver that's been in a good ride that doesn't have one announced, and there's really no other candidates for the 41 unless they go with a rookie from the lower series like Christopher Bell or Cole Custer. Cole Custer is already in a SHR ride (and his father is a principal at SHR) so if they thought he was ready, they would have announced him already.

This sport is on the downhilll slope as sponsors see it.

Experienced drivers get rides because they are bringing sponsorship money with them.

Otherwise, why wouldn't a team just bring up a young'in from the other series and pay them next to nothing. Since the big money sponsors have been headed for the exit doors lately...its getting tough to field top teams with high paid drivers.

I'll bet Kurt Busch is practically paying Ganassi for his new ride.

4 words cover that. They want to win.

In the case of Busch, he's a better shot than the rookies, even if he's not quite on the level of the Big 3 - so he brings a partial deal, Ganassi has to come up with the rest. Similar to what he had at SHR, difference being the Gene Haas contributed much of the rest.

But as you say this sponsor deal isn't looking so good. Nascar has now said they would go with multiple "tiered" sponsorships of the series - as opposed to a single series sponsor as in the past.

Have you wondered about Jimmie Johnson's new sponsor? I have. I never heard of them. They are not a household name.

How about the money behind Jeff Gordon's "Drive to End Hunger" deal? You mean someone was willing to end Gordon's hunger as well as poor people too?

How about "Arris" on the 19 with Carl Edwards and then Suarez? Ever heard of them?

Then there's Furniture Row. They are real but couldn't afford it.

Then in drag racing there's the "Make a Wish" and "Infinite Hero" deals which are not sponsorships but are rolling ads for the benefit of charities, funded by an individual.
