Do you need to modify the transmission tunnel when you install a turbo 350 in a 1961 Impala?

No you don't I had a 350 turbo behind a 62 Chevy 409 that I bought from a friend and it fit great under the tunnel. The floor pans in 61 to 64's are the same.

I drove my 61 for years that way and didn't need to modify the floor, crossmember or driveshaft.

Why buy when you can build it better?
