I've got a 75 1/2 PU. The right side (quarter panel) is in poor condition. Was thinking of getting a used bed. They are usually about $500.00 and still need some work. Aftermarket side panels are supposed to be available for approx $350. I googled replacing and looks like two welds to cut. bolts to undo. My question is, what connects the bed to the side panel. Doesn't look like a weld and the youtube video was vauge. This is a daily driver.

While I'm not intimately familiar with the '75 Chevrolet P/U box, I'm assuming there would be a series of spot welds that hold the two panels together.

If I remember correctly, it is a bolt on bedside that just has a couple of tack welds where the bedside meets the floor/rear sill. I can’t attest to the quality of the aftermarket bedsides. You could probably find someone who has had some in storage in good shape for sale somewhere if you searched long enough.

This helps. Yes, I also question the repop quality and I'm still looking for a good used box or at least the side I need. Fortunately I'm not in a big hurry. Don't drive it and not fixing it to show.

Thanks gchemist. This looks like a very doable job. Plus taking off a few more bolts I can paint the back of the cab without removing the entire bed.

Nice. Post pictures! I've wanting to see pics of a bed being repaired. Around here, I've seen beds go from $350+.
