Hello,
New to site,I have a 55 Sedan Delivery with a 3 speed trans & overdrive. I believe it is a Saginaw, from pics that I have seen. Anyway, trying to find a rear seal for the trans, any info would be appreciated. Thx

DriveTrain.Com for parts. If the trans is stock to the car, then it's a MUNCIE 319 trans; the same trans, but without the overdrive, is a MUNCIE 318. Those trans have a 4 bolt side cover. If it's not stock, then it "could" be a Saginaw, if it has a 7 bolt side cover. Those trans are rare, and the OD unit can be removed and added to a Saginaw 4 speed to make a 4 speed with overdrive.

Look at Timken or National 9613S
or SKF 15041
Btw, the Saginaw trans (7 bolt side cover) was not used until 1966, but if you have one it could have been installed by a PO. GM calls the original 1955 trans (4 bolt side cover) a Muncie.
As for the seal, both designs use the same part.

Those who choose an automatic transmission want transportation. Those who choose a manual transmission want to drive. |
