Hi guys, I am planning an LS1 and 4L60E installation in place of the 350/T400 in my Fleetline Aero , I am using a stock chassis and a front end similar to a Mustang 2 , anyone here done this conversion and can let me know what headers you used ? My car is RHD so I will need to modify whatever it is I buy , am thinking that either block huggers or shorty style will be the way to go ?

Also , the lock mechanisms in my doors are flogged out , the part the rod from the door lock slides into is just a round hole now so I cant lock or unlock the doors using the key , the rest of the mech is fine , I have had a look and cant see anybody repopping these items , is there a later model latch mechanism or something I can cannibalise parts out of to fix my units ????

The rod is flat on 2 sides. Here is a link.

Cheers Keith, the locks and rods are fine mate, the problem is where the lock rods slide into the door latch mechanism , seems to be a pot metal receptacle which has turned to dust and now the lock rods are turning in thin air - I tried building them up with knead-it , not sure if you mob get that stuff , its like a 2 part epoxy that is meant to be similar to metal , can be ground, drilled, tapped etc - it worked for a short time but the only real fix is going to be new door latch mechanisms or the bits the lock rods slide into. Trunk latch is a bit funky too but it doesn't seem they are reproed yet either

Ok I have a similar problem with my 48. PO used the wrong screw to hold in the lever and screwed up the threads. I bought a used latch assembly but haven't installed it yet. I could not find a new latch assy.

Ive done the conversion on a fleetmaster convertible with a mustang II front end
The kits are not very difficult with a minimum amount of welding. You have to measure the amount you want set back for radiator and firewall clearance.
BTW, Christ is with you no matter where you are; Paul was imprisoned in places that made present day Mexican prisons look like country clubs many times just because of his beliefs. Anyone in a Mexican prison or any other kind didnt get there because they were good people........

Thanks!

Guess I will have to try and find a decent set of used ones, not an easy task in Australia
The other option I guess is remote locking but I don't really want to go that way if I can help it

Fender headers are what you want. They extend into the fender well slightly outside the chassis. I used them. The only thing I didnt like was the portion of the pipe had to curl under the chassis a bit near the header connection.

Thanks!
