In my youth (back around 1960), I worked in my neighbor's auto electric shop. I always had a fondness for Chevys and I admired the wiring in GM products of the time. Now, I'm working on an old style hotrod (SBC of course) and I'd like to make up GM style harnesses. Where can I go for bulk wire in the proper colors, gauges, stranding, and, most of all, the same type of insulation that was on those great cars of yesteryear? Lectric Limited builds harnesses for Corvettes that are exactly like what I'm looking for but they don't sell the wire separately. I bought a "street rod harness online for a car I helped my brother with and I don't want to go that route again. That wire wasn't what I was looking for. Thanks for any help here.

Real late I know. I recently was asking myself on where could I go to be pretty sure I was getting quality wire. I am going to try a truck supply place as in an 18 wheeler.
