A place called Trim Tags
They want a photo copy of the original tag,
Although my car is painted black and white and has black and ivory interior , the new trim tag stills shows the original crocus yellow and the olive green paint code and the original interior color code.
But it sure looks nice

Hello;
What would someone do if that tag was "missing" from the cowl?
I purchased my 57 many years ago and it did not have one when I purchased it!
Also found the reason it was missing as there seemed to be a bunch of fiberglass in that area indicating to me that my car was "hit Hard" on the passengers side!

These folks say they will reproduce a tag without the original. http://classicta.com/GM-COWL-ID-TAG-REPROD UCTION-S...

^^^^So basically, you can BUILD your own car, the way you would have WANTED it from the factory, install your own firewall and VIN tags (those are also available), and have a car that CAN be passed off as ORIGINAL????^^^. Now, these tags come from places OTHER than USA based (Canada, Europe_). Really makes NO difference to me, but you REALLY need to RESEARCH whatever car you're considering. It may not be be what it appears to be! JMO.

People like you, me and most of us understand what you are saying.
When I first noticed 5-6-7 Chevys
most people that owned them were neighbors or one that was for sale down the street.
Those that became connoisseurs of these cars knew without a doubt if it was a 6 or V8.
I had NEVER seen one that was FI, most were 6 cylinders.
Not until the prices went up latter did you ever see one that was FI and automatic. I never saw a V8 Powerpack.
Anyway, the only people that have any interest in the correct cowl tag are people like us.
Why do I have this opinion?
Most people now a days that own these cars have NO CLUE as to what it is,
O car? L car?(I know that's in the vin)
What , what are you talking about????
Even if you made up a cowl tag for one of these cars that was 427/4speed/blower, most people would have no clue except us.
Thats the difference between us and them, we know what we are looking at, they don't.
So if I ever saw a 5-6-7 with a cowl tag claiming every option, you know what I'm thinking, those other people?
"oh I love the color!", "how much?"
"I love it, did you build it?"
"No, I bought it from ACME in TimBukToo about 6 months ago"
"Where did you get the glass seashell?"
