specifically for those who have a 67 Convertible, BigDogSS

I have been searching for the rear trunk molding piece and am confused about which one to get. I know the convertible has a different piece than the 2 door. So on yearone they have two different pieces but they don't specify which goes to what car. one is part tlm7 and the other is qm676 (little pricier). The qm676 specifies 2 door hardtop. It looks to have longer "wings" on it. the tlm7 has really short looking wings and there are no notes about application. not sure they are even actual photos of the parts.

So those who have this car, can you take a look at that site and see which part looks correct? (i can post links but wasn't sure about forum rules on that)

Thanks!

Just looked a little closer at the conv vs. 2 door trunk. It appears the conv. trim piece is longer. So yearone may have their parts misidentified according to their pictures anyway.

All deck lids are are the same in dimensions except the "Sport Coupe"

Just the holes drilled in them are different on any 2 door or 4 door hardtop or post, even the convertible and Caprice 2 and 4 door are the same deck lid. period

If your convertible is an SS, the middle area the ornament goes in (Chrome piece with the bowtie) is semi gloss black, if it is a straight Impala the insert area is painted silver.

From pictures I’ve seen the trim looks wider on the convertible and 4 door. It covers most of the tail light and the 2 door looks to cover about half.

I also read somewhere that the convertible trim was wider. Don’t remember where. Also most places selling the trim specify it only fits 2 door cars.

It’s likely that I’m wrong by just looking at pics. I haven’t been able to measure anything yet to double check.

Not sure which photos you are referencing, but ALL 67 Chevrolet "B" body deck lids are the same except Sport Coupe, and technically the wagon is not a deck lid.
Roof line in photo you are looking at may give you a different illusion, if you have an Impala there are only 2 lengths, one for sport coupe, and one for ALL the rest.

4 door hardtop, 4 door sedan, 2 door sedan, (post models), Caprice 2 and 4 door all the same ... Sport coupe is all by it's self. 2 deck lids

SS has Black insert under the emblem, Straight Impala is argent silver. If you had a SS427 same deal with length's from Coupe to Convertible, it would have black insert of paint with the "SS427" emblem in the middle.

A biscayne/ Belair deck lid, 2 and 4 door are the same as a convertible sheet metal wise, they just don't have the Impala lower molding.

So if someone says they have a convertible deck lid and that's a convertible only, they are full of shi*

Not sure how else to explain it.

hope that helps

What Bill says is correct. I looked at the Year One website at the trunk moldings. For sure, the QM676 part is for the 2-door hardtop only. There is not enough info for the TML7 part to determine if it is for the non-2-door hardtop cars.

I also checked CARS Inc., Classic Industries, Impala Bob. They all look to carry the 2-door hardtop trunk molding only.

I never said the trunk was different. I just don’t understand why the trim from a 2 door wouldn’t fit a convertible if the back of the trunk is identical?

Oh and no worries. I don’t like filters either

Do you mind measuring your trim length? One eBay seller measured and it is about 51 1/4” in width.

I never argued that the trunk was different. Just that all the sellers of that trim piece say it will not fit both cars. Still confused as to why it won’t fit if both lids are exactly the same. Other than a little painted part and the holes in a different place. If that’s the only different I’ll just buy an old used piece and fix it up and make it work.

Thanks to both of you!

So on the pictures I was referencing, it looked like the trim on the convertible and 4 door was farther over the tail lights.

Is that because the tail lights on those cars is farther inboard? That’s the only thing that made me think the conv and 4 door used a longer trim.

The back of the trunk between the 2-door hardtop and convertible are NOT the same. The taillights are in the same place. The 2-door hardtop's trunk is narrower. Also, the end-caps on the rear quarter panels are different.

I also noticed these places (YearOne, Classic Ind., etc) selling this trim are incorrectly saying it "Fits 2-door hardtop and sedan only". This is wrong, it will NOT fit sedan.

Two different trunk lids in 1967:
1) Impala 2-door Sport Coupe - trunk trim (Bowtie emblem/acrylic assembly and silver insert).
Impala SS 2-door Sport Coupe - trunk trim (Bowtie emblem/acrylic assembly and black insert).
2) Caprice 2-door Sport Coupe - trunk trim (Caprice-specific, horizontal ribs and small bowtie).
Caprice 4-door Sport Sedan - trunk trim (Caprice-specific, horizontal ribs and small bowtie).
Impala convertible - trunk trim (Bowtie emblem/acrylic assembly and silver insert).
Impala SS convertible - trunk trim (Bowtie emblem/acrylic assembly and black insert).
Impala 4-door Sport Sedan - trunk trim (Bowtie emblem/acrylic assembly and silver insert).
Impala 4-door sedan - trunk trim (Bowtie emblem/acrylic assembly and silver insert).
Bel Air 2-door sedan - no trunk trim, Bowtie emblem/acrylic assembly only.
Bel Air 4-door sedan - no trunk trim, Bowtie emblem/acrylic assembly only.
Biscayne 2-door sedan - no trunk trim, Bowtie emblem/acrylic assembly only.
Biscayne 4-door sedan - no trunk trim, Bowtie emblem/acrylic assembly only.

Gotcha! I got confirmation of that in searching and asking the various stores as well. I missed the fact that sport coupe and 2 door hardtop were the same car. So I’ve been comparing the sport coupe (aka 2 door ht) to the others.

Now to find his piece seems like it will be difficult!

Thanks all!
