I'm currently restoring a 1969 Chevrolet Impala SS, I just about have every NOS part to complete the restoration with the exception of the passenger door body side molding with a green insert. I would like to find a nos molding, but I would consider a nice used one as well. I do have a door molding with a black insert, but I rather not dye that molding at this time. Site member / friend aawtech has been helping me with the search as well.

Thanks !

Good luck. The '69 & '70 stuff is pretty hard to find these days. Keep an eye on ebay. You might be able to get a wrap shop to make you the correct color insert.

Thanks.... yes it is getting hard. When I restored my first '69 Impala back in the mid '90's , I went thru Hemming Motor News adverts and found everything that I needed.... not now, will continue to check ebay.

Thanks

Yes it seems like the 69//70 parts are really hard to find ..I also purchased side moulding from awwtech and painted it. Seems black is $$$&. I do have ft fender and door moulding used. Blue. The insert is not as thick Jim

It would be interesting to document some of the design details in your thread (maybe dimensions of the profile/ photos/ sketches). Possibly that already exists in the reference material??. I haven't needed that part yet so I have not checked. I have a '68 and based on what I've noticed the 67-70 are the most difficult to find aftermarket support unless like the floor it was shared with 65-66. The after market seems to have warmed-up a lot more to the 65-66. It's a totally different world for 67-70 Impala if your parts hunting is based on Chevelle or Camaro.

I was thinking it would be good to see the details of the trim you're referring to because about 5 years ago I started seeing the '68 Impala trim for sale new on eBay so based on what you wrote it makes me curious what the difference in the cross section is between '68 and '69 and as well it makes me wonder if the molding for the '68 on eBay is indeed correct for '68.
