Wanting to hear from fellow DFW members that have had windshield replaced at a shop. I am wanting to have mine replaced due to cracks. Want to know a good experienced/reputable shop to have it done right the first time. Want to know the good and bad experiences and where. The closer to the Mid Cities area the better.

When I worked at a dealer in Grapevine we used a company out of Fort Worth called Auto Glass Xperts. The tech that serviced our account always did great work.

Thanks for the reply. Now I am wondering if anyone has reused their locking strip with seal and windshield replacement? I replaced my chrome strip almost a year ago and would like to reuse it.

Mine had a brand new chrome seal. It's bad now. All the chrome is gone. It might be a bad aftermarket type. When I replace the windshield, I'm going all black. The chrome looks nice but if it fades, it goes really ugly.

Mine was very bad, that's the reason I have replaced it in the past year. Cracks started appearing after that.
Not getting very many shop references. Thinking of getting seal and glass and find help to do it myself. I think the only help possibly needed is to set new glass into seal, the the rest maybe be able to complete myself. Have seen several youtube videos and it does not look too hard.
Do you know where to order glass? Any glass shop or are their specific places to order from. I don't know if that is an item that can be ordered online and ship.

Safelite Auto glass is a safe bet. At least for glass. Installation is based on experience. They may have an experienced tech to install a windshield or back cab glass. They break it, they replace it and try again.

Cool. Thanks a lot. That may be the best way to go.
Is there any sealant needed for the rubber to body? The videos on youtube do not show any. They only used silicone lubricant and/or glass cleaner for ease of installation.

No sealant. A new rubber seal will do the job. Yes, any lubricant you can use on the channel is good. Soapy water works great.
