Did 1958 trucks have turn signals? Turn signal switch?
I’m restoring my late brothers 1958 Chevy Apache stepside and need help figuring out the wiring. Thanks

I believe so. I took one off what I think was a 57 to put on my 53 because I didn't like the golf cart look of the strap on. It just slides on over the column. I paid $20.00 for the switch assembly and the wheel. The internal switch is available from many vendors and I think it was $30.00. Make sure you get the self canceling piece on the wheel. I replaced all the springs and got a new handle for a few more bucks. Hope this helps. You can find these on many chevy's cheep in junkyard so don't pay the big bucks on ebay or vendors.

When I rewired a friend's 57 Cameo, he had the aftermarket turn signals and wanted the factory type. I had to do a bit of research and found that the factory turn signals were optional and could be ordered. There are several vendors that sell the complete set up, and when you order your new wiring harnesses, get the ones with the factory signals built in.

Ok, I did get the wiring harness for the factory turn signals but my truck doesn’t have them. Looks like I may be ordering the turn signal switch for the steering column. Thanks for the info.

The one I picked up at the junk yard is factory. they are on everything from corvettes to sedans and trucks. Cheep. I wouldn't pay the $150 to $200 they get for them. They fit any 2" round column. They have an internal clamp and marry up to the wheel. If you can wait until Thanksgiving I'll send you one for free when I get home with a new handle. I
have extra.
