got a 1988 chevy s 10 4.3 swaped to a 5.7 just want some opinons on msd ignition systems. what do you think about them.. thinking about takeing the computer system out of the truck.

It's a good system varies on what your looking for be it performance end or just better ignition system really even with just an upgraded coil, cap/rotor and wires you can get similar if just looking to amp up the ignition system. Performance wise it will do well also take in consideration if motor is stock or has been worked a bit can only get so much from the stock 5.7. I know there are other wiser gearheads on here that will know more just going from experience on my end.

If it's to loud your to old

I just put the new MSD street fire in mine. It was easy to install. I have 10.5:1 compression and with 93 octane I either had to retard the timing to around 28° or richer the mixture to about 12:1 or I'd get spark knock at about 2000 rpm light load. The multi spark seemed to cure that.

The only complaint I have is it evidently causes some kind of radio interference. My reception goes to crap as soon as I start the engine.

i am having a fuel problem or a ignition system problem with this truck. took all the plugs out and cleaned them then ran the engine for about 30 min. took 2 plugs out # 1 plug was carbon up again along with # 2 plug.
