When I removed the old shocks supplied by CE with the front suspension there was evidence of bottoming out and there were creases in the lower shock covers made by contact with the bottom edge of the coil spring cup. Since the adjustable Viking shocks are actually larger in diameter I did not want to install and possibly damage them. I think in order to install the shocks I will have to remove the coil springs and grind off the lip of the coil spring cup. What a PITA. Has anyone else run into a similar problem?

I will look at the shocks I took out but I didn't notice any damage. I am trying to visualize where you mean by the bottom edge of the coil spring cup. Is that at the top of the spring?

Same thing happened to me with the Monroe shocks that came with the Fatman front end, they looked they were pinched, wound up with Kybs, no more issues.

There is a cup that the coil spring sits in and it has a dish shape and that outer edge was putting dents in the shocks on hard compression. It is at the bottom of the coil spring. Wish I had taken a picture when the shocks were out.

Are the KYBs the same diameter as the Monroes? The Vikings are larger in diameter.

No, the shock body is narrower, no more interference.
