55 org. 6cyl powerglide. when cold transmission shifts just like it should. shifts up shifts down perfect. once it gets hot will not shift into second gear.was told to check to see if the drive pin for rear pump was sheared off. it was not. fluid is correct level. going down the road shift to neutral shut car off then back on shift to drive and the car will start and sometimes it wont. what should i check next. thank you

Low band adjustment correct? Toss a can of "Trans-Medic", or a similar product, into the trans. It will help to "soften the seals", making them seal better. It's usually only a temporary fix, but it will give you an idea of the overall condition of the trans (personally, I've never had any luck doing that, but every person I've recommended it to has). Trans gets "hot", clearances "open up", and fluid leaks by the seals in your case. And the really bad thing about it all? If it does need to be rebuilt, it will cost you $$$$$. Old equals expensive I guess. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

If the pin is sheared it will never up-shift.
The pressures should be checked when hot as per shop manual.

IF YOU NEED A 235 trans i have one with only 40,000 miles out of a 56 i see you live in wash so it might be too much to ship

i have a 235 trans out of a low mileage 56 4-DR if you need one it is complete even has original oil lines where are you located
