Hey Guys,

Just sold my '29 Chevy and now have a '77 Chevelle, Malibu Classic. So I have moved to a different group in ChevyTalk.

Just curious, what is the preference when it comes to explaining to others what I have? Should I tell them I have a '77 Chevelle or do I tell them I have an '77 Malibu Classic?

I did notice this category that I am writing in does consider it Chevelle.

I understand a little of the History and this being the last Chevelle, but was curious as to what most Chevy owners thoughts are. I can go either way. Thanks in advance.

I had one as a company car back in the day. I loved the long wheelbase and floaty ride. (NYC territory)

Blue with a dark grey vinyl roof- 350 I think.

It just doesn't look like a Chevelle so I'm going with Either the entire name or just Malibu Classic.

I've always referred to mine as a Chevelle (it's a base Malibu).

The first time someone said "hey - nice 'Bu" I didn't know what they were talking about.

I have been calling it my Malibu Classic but I think I will call it a Chevelle since it is the last year for it. Of course I will add Malibu Classic in the conversation some how.

Technically the Chevelle existed til 1977. Though I don’t recall seeing anything with the actual name Chevelle on it after 1975. From everything that I recall, starting in 1976 they were either Malibus or Malibu Classics. But I guess officially the Chevelle was gone starting in 1978.
