I restomodded a 94 LT1 into my 68 Impala SS and would like recommendations on a set of electric gauges, specifically coolant temp, oil pressure, volt meter and possibly trans temp. Thanks.

Are you mounting them in the original instrument cluster? You will get more ideas in the 68 forum.

You can use any aftermarket gauges you want. There are two coolant temperature sensors on an LT1. One is connected to the ecm - you must leave that one in place. The other was wired directly to the donor car's instrument panel. Remove that sensor and use the one that comes with the temp gauge you buy. The rest of the gauges and sensors operate totally independently of the engine control system.

Thanks. I'll be looking at this again in a few days.

Dakota Digital VHX gauges

http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=...

Includes lots of features for the price you don't get with most aftermarket individual gauges.

The HDX models have some cool extra features, but not available for the 68 yet.

I ended up going with an Autometer 2 gauge set-up. Oil pressure and water temp. I made a custom housing for them in place of the factory console top, directly beneath the dash.
