Anyone know the size/thread count? It's a '53 bell housing.

Thanks ray. As a Detroit Diesel partsman for 38 year, we had a Standard Hardware Book that gave all the sizes of different hardware items. I need to look in the garage and see if I have one to complement my Chevy Parts book. All the part numbers for all the GM divisions were the same on hardware items.

Ahhh Keith, you were too modest about your qualifications. Now, slowly, the truth comes out.

I believe they are a 1/4-20 slotted screw but would need to verify that. Similar to the screws used to attach the side cover on the engine.

If I recall it correctly they were the same as the stove bolt side cover screws.

RAYCOW,

Ok. I think we all would like to know how old you are. You have so much information rattling around in your head (everything I have read has been accurate, as well) that you have got to be at least 150 years old. C'mon. Give it up!

You are almost correct. I am 75 years old and I can feel every minute of those 75 years. BTW, I did not know the size of those screws. I suspected they might be 1/4"-20 thread, but I didn't know how long they were. I had to do a search, using Keith's part no. to find the length, so the credit should rightly go to Keith.

Thanks ray. I never got to work on cars much. But have been on here and the VCCA for 18 years. I had several project cars for my retirement, which never happened, but bought my 48 coupe and it was a runner and my 46 pickup is also a runner. Of course did some work on both of them.
