I have a 1941 Chevy Master Deluxe. Currently it has maroon paint but under that there is white. I have no idea what the original color was. The firewall is black. All this paint is single stage. I want to repaint the car with single stage but this will require removing rust, damaged paint, filling a few small dents etc.

How can I tell what paint is on the car currently? I do not want to have to strip every inch by hand if some of it is fine. I am thinking of using Summit Racing's single stage pre-mixed paint. Plan to get a compressor and gun and do the work myself.

Also what is compatible? Is there a rattle can that I can get to be compatible for when I finish a small section over night and want to come back in the morning to finish up?
