Is there a work around to the 2 speed wiper system. I would like to have a delay function on the low speed.
I have used the Revolution Electronics module #13023.
The original motor went up in smoke after many years of service. A rebuilt unit was used and it worked fine.
I then got the idea to get a Revolution Electronics delay system. After many videos of the wipers slapping with the company they sent me a replacement unit. All the wiring instructions were followed and it was hit and miss if you could get the delay and then when it came time to shut them off, well that was another story.
They would begin to go to park then start flapping up and down. Numerous positions of the switch were tried until they finally parked and quit. After replacing the wiper switch in the dash and another wiper motor things finally worked... not great but.....
The other day I came out of a show and it was raining. I could not even get the wipers to turn on. Drove home very cautiously.
Mechanic checked it over and found that the grounds were good. He removed the module and by tapping the top of the wiper motor you could get it started. Says that the wiper motor has 2 wirings in the motor, one for each speed and it is not possible to get a variable speed with a rheostat type switch.
Another wiper motor is on order to replace the defective one.
Any other suggestions to get the variable speed.
Have you used another type of module or a stand alone variable switch to control the low speed portion of the wipers.

Some years ago, I added a variable delay switch from Radio Shack to the otherwise stock setup and it worked fine. Unfortunately, I can't remember the RS stock number, and all of their stores are closed in San Francisco now anyway.

The only thing I'm aware of is "New Port Engineering" wiper systems. I'm in the process of putting one on my 67 Impala.

I installed one of those. Fantastic upgrade.
New Port Engineering
Works like a charm, and I now have a 3 speed wiper. High, low, and intermittent.

Can you control the amount of the delay on the intermittent?

I don't believe so. Best check with them to be certain.

Isn't that what intermittent means - you control the delay?

No, it just means that there is a delay between sweeps. I know that some of the factory installs weren't adjustable, so it is possible that some aftermarket delay switches aren't adjustable either.
