We now have a 1983 GOne Ton van camper. Chevrolet and I cant remember if it is a G35 or G3500. It has wheel that are dual wheel type and 16.5 size. We would like to change to 16 inch wheels. What specs should i look for the get the right ones to fit the 1983.

6 inch or 6.5 wide rims? are all bolt hole the same size from 1976 to 2018?

If i remember right we bought a wheel for the spare on the 1979 and the bolt and hole in the rim seemed very loose as if they were wrong.

We also have a 1979 GMC C3500 with 16 inch on it already, and will they fit the 1983 so they will all be the same?

thank you for any help stano

thank you

8 bolt patterns have stayed the same as far as I know. It's the lug/stud combos that have changed. Lugs and studs must be matched. I'm not sure about the center bore changing. It has probably remained the same too. I'll do some Internet searches and see what comes up.

6" or 6.5"...it doesn't matter....but you didn't say what size tires you are gonna use.

On 3/4 ton rims, I believe that they changed, at about the time they changed body styles in '87 or '88. I believe that the hub flange (on the end of the axle, that centers the rim) changed diameters...by a tiny bit.

According to the link...there are some 78.1 and 78.3mm centers, for 1/2 tons and they sorta overlap. For 3/4 tons...it is sorta hard to read, but there are some 117 & 116.7 mm centers listed and the change may have started in '88 (about when I thought).
