2wd 4 door longbed
164,000 miles
bought 2 years ago from org owner
my mom got this to pull a med size camp trailer, so it doesn't get used much.
I'm in Calif. so time to smog
won't pass nov 2017 running rich, no codes to say there is a problem.
it runs perfect, starts fast, idles perfect etc.

HC 223 NEEDS TO BE UNDER 100 FAIL
CO .11%, NEEDS TO BE UNDER 1% PASS
.............

$250 in parts my labor
so I do an electrical tune up
+ oil & filter
I replace
all OEM but OX sensors
all 4 OX sensors
water temp sensor
cap
rotor
plugs
wires
check cats, over 100* hotter coming out then going in, GOOD

take back in
July 2018
HC 735, 3 TIMES HIGHER
CO 2.85% 3 TIMES HIGHER

I signed up here to search, have for about a week off and on, seems anyone with rich problem either throws a code or runs rough.

my best guess is injectors, 1 must be hanging open
looked at videos on you tube, not allot of fun to get to injectors, lol
was hoping to not have to spend $400-500 on 8 injectors

I see them from $12 to $90 each
I really don't want a pos injector

what brand part # is recommended by you guys?

read ford f150 yellow injectors, can't remember if there was a part # listed, I think was old post and link to buy was dead

anyway to test them without removing?
ohm test without pulling the intake manifold?

thx in advance for any help

Had similar issue with mine. Turned out to be 4 leaking injectors and bad fuel pressure regulator. No codes or anything. Just 6mpg.

I pulled the fuel rail and turned on the key letting the fuel pump prime the system. I ended up buying a set of 8 cleaned and flowmatched bosch injectors on fleabay.

I went and bought a set of flowmatched bosch injectors on fleabay too:)
$87 for 8, 100% + feedback
I'll check for leaks before I swap them, but it really seems to be the fix as far as I can tell.
thx again, I will update soon
