My father recently purchased a 2008 with the 5.3L AFM engine. Does it have the knock sensors mounted in the valley like the older LS engines that have water issues with them? He'll probably never clean the engine any way, but I'm curious.

I can't believe no one has answered you yet. I just looked them up in AllData, and it looks like they are mounted on each side of the block. I'm pretty sure there isn't any room under the valley cover because of all the AFM crap.
