I removed my dash clock and fit a tachometer in a 54 clock housing I bought on ebay.

Good move.

You'll get a lot more use out of the tach than you would from a clock, assuming that the clock actually works, which often is not the case.

It is from Westach Mfg.model #2CT33-6V.This model is for a 6 volt system which I still have but they also sell tach`s for 12 volt systems too. This model is a 2 inch tach,I had to make a ring out of thin wood to fill the clock bezel opening slightly.

I don`t understand what you mean by sending units?

I guess the tach didn't come with a separate sending unit. In the old days tachs came with a small box that mounted under the hood, and wires came into that box and other wires came out of the box, going to the tach. That was called the sending unit--the tach wouldn't work without it's sending unit. But maybe with all the solid state components available now tachs don't need sending units.

No sending unit just two wires. On a negative ground car like mine one wire goes to the negative side of the coil and the other wire to ground, could`nt be any easier.
