I have an intermittent electrical problem with my '69 El Camino SS 396. Car is stock except for Edelbrock intake manifold, carb, cam, MSD distributor, and exhaust pipes. Sometimes when I turn the key, EVERYTHING is dead including dome light, headlights, horn, and starter. Sometimes, everything is OK. And sometimes it starts OK and then dies at really inconvenient times.

I have replaced:

battery
battery cables
ignition switch on steering column
ignition switch connector

I'm looking for suggestions on what to look for/check out and how to isolate what is causing my problem.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello.
You have a bad cable or connection.
Where your main 12v goes to the starter inspect it carefully. Was it replaced?

You may also have a bad fusible link that goes from the main cable to the firewall.

Same with the ground. Cable was replaced?
Is ground going to the engine, frame, and fenderwell?

Turn the key on with a few loads, KOEO. then do a wiggle test of the battery cables. Hopefully it will present itself.
I would say whatever it is should be rather obvious
