Hello all,new guy here with to you probably simple questions. 1927 Capitol AA
*What is oil change procedure?
*What oil and what weight? I see there's an ongoing debate over detergent or non detergent.
*Capacity.
* I see one member here changed his stock filter to a modern one using an adapter. What's your opinion. It seems like the way to go considering the price of a vintage style.
*Oil pressure.

*What would be the voltage reading @ the battery with the car running?
*Is there a voltage regulator?
*On the exhaust pipe I've seen other cars with looks something like a soup can on it.Mines gone, just wondering what it does and what it's called.

I know pretty basic stuff but ya gotta start somewhere. Thanks

Chev is not my specialty. Pontiac is. To change oil run engine until hot, remove drain plug, replace plug when crankcase is empty, replace plug and refill. Capacity may be marked on dipstick. I have always used detergent oil in my Pontiac for the last 58 years (400,000 miles). You cont't need to worry about zinc and flat tappets (your valve springs aren't strong enough and your revs are too low). Third brush generator does no have regulator just a cut out mounted on the top of the generator(simply to stop the battery from being drained when the engine is off). Your oil pressure will be fairly low, maybe about 5 pounds as your engine is splash lubricated, only pressure to the main bearings.
Not suggesting that it is a better forum but you could also ask questions on the Chevrolet threads of the AACA forums .http://forums.aaca.org/forum/50-chevrolet/

Thank you for your response.Haven't been on here due to health issues.I'm really after the oil capacity.I plan on replacing the stock oil filter that you only replace every 10,000 miles.I don't believe I could put 10,000 miles on it the rest of my life! Anybody know the actual oil capacity?
